Feeling Salty?

It is easy to feel “salty”, bitter, or even resentful, but there is a different kind of saltiness that we must cling to, and that is more important than ever in dark times.

The saltiness of moral preservation and purification distinguishes Christian instruction from that which is destructive. Jesus invites and calls us to Himself, so that we can be “the salt of the earth,” making peace in His name.

We are also called to be the light, sharing the love of Christ in word and in action with everyone.

Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus calls us to be salt and light, not on our own strength or by our own knowledge or goodness or truth.

We are to draw on our Lord for strength, trusting in His perfect love for us and in His instructions to be prepared to stand firm in our faith.

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication…

1 Thessalonians 5 The Day of the Lord

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

💗Wishing you Peace, Love, and Light
